Blip - (1) good and (2) bad
Discussion
ok, blip (1) (the right kind of blip) Bought some CCC cans from PH member 'The Pits' (Jonny) and can report that a 2S with otherwise stock exhaust system sounds the absolute dogs wotsists on a pair of CCCs! Just the right balance IMO
blip (2) (not the right kind of blip and the reason for this thread) Shortly after some 'spirited driving' I was in 5th ~3k when the shift light in the dash pod flashed once and then the lcd display went completely blank. It came back on a few seconds later and all seemed well.
The car possibly feels slightly hesitant now, but that could just be in my mind. Anybody else had the same thing happen?

I would start with the engine earth. Especially if it feels hesitant now. Also look at the 100amp fuses (one in the engine bay and one in the passenger side of the cockpit IIRC). Even if the 100a fuses look fine, replace them with 125a. Again IIRC they are midi fuses, I got mine from ebay for a few pennies
so, I haven't driven the Tuscan for a couple of weeks (poor weather!) and its just been sat in the garage on trckle charge. I just went to take it out and now there is nothing at all coming up on the lcd, its just blank, also none of the warning beeps on ignition or indicators beeping tones work. Also the steering wheel buttons, wash/wipe and beam dip dont work. It starts and drives fine.
I pulled the dash ecu and left it disconnected for 5 mins, still the same blank screen and no audible warnings, except that now the wash/wipe and beam buttons work ok.
I've been advised to disconnect the battery for 10mins, but havent done it yet because I don't have a jack to hand - is it worth trying?
any ideas what the matter is? I'm thinking the dash ecu is probably dead? Is there a way to test it?

^^ I'd take the dash pod off (5min job) and just make sure all the connections are pushed tight. Couple of allen bolts on each side of the lower pod. Then twist the 3 silver bits on the top pod cover and that will come off too.
Also, take the dash ecu out and take it out of the black box. Check the chip is pushed well into the circuit board, and then check all connections before putting it back.
I was having odd characters displayed, and the screen going blank intermittently. Doing this sorted it. Although for some reason I don't have a working rev counter now!!

It was indeed a loose connector in the pod! seems the main plug fouls on the column mounting bracket when it [the column] is fully retracted. A bit of a rummage and it's all working properly again now! just in time for the 20 minutes of sun they forecast for sunday!
Regarding the hesitation, I've increased the shift light to 6900k and it now feels ok - I was under the impression this setting was just a visible warning, does it actually limit rpm before you hit the physical limiter at 7300k? While I'm on the subject, what do the low and medium settings do (on a mk2 S)?
What is your upper rev limit set to?
