Hello all,

Being a mini-reactionary, I was wondering whether any of you know if TVR will still allow people to specify an old MK1 Tuscan bodyshell for a new car.

I just think the MK1 looks much, much better... (apologies t the MK2 fans out there)

Am starting my planning process for a Tuscan purchase next year and want to figure out what my options are.

(Thoughts so far
- buy 2002 car second-hand for around 25K (?) next year
- wait ( ) a bit longer for a 2003/4 car to drop into my price range
- let rationality fly out the window and order a new one (MK1 shaped!) using some outrageous financing arrangement...)

Very good point, but sadly not poss. I ordered a new Tusc S at the motor show. I dont like the lights or interior but do want a 4ltr. I argued with the factory but to no avail, so I guess I will just have to get used to it. Cest la vie as they say.

You mean, the new one will be using a Trabant engine? If so, it might be more reliable - just kidding.

How long before someone (tvrbodyshop?) offers a new shape -> original headlight conversion kit?

I'd go the 2nd hand mk1 shape personally, as the mk2 shape doesn't really do it for me. Let someone else sort out any initial problems and take a fairly hefty depreciation hit. To me the thought of losing a grand a month on the value far outweighs the advantage of being able to spec what colour interior stitching it has, but I do understand the appeal of buying new.

I think if you look VRY hard, there are still a few unregisterd 'old' shapes about.

Worth buying perhaps? Considering the opinion of a lot of people on here regarding the new shape.

Hi Jon, hows it going with getting yours back? Any news? With regards to the new Tusc,Iam sure I will get used to it and come to love it like my current one. It certainly is different. I personally was one of the few who really didnt like the 350, but now I adore it, and was very tempted, but top off motoring one the day.

Interesting about the unreg MK1's, but I guess they'll be gone by next year.

So I guess I'll have to see who wants to sell a dark blue/ black 4.0 in august next year....

In any case, it's possible to re-trim etc no?

Hi Di, the repairs have been ok'd by the insurance company no problem. The hold up now is getting the bits. They were ordered last week and no one can give me a definate delivery date, (rumours of the whole factory shutting for holidays? Surely not?) so i'm still having to large it in the snazzy Kangoo van.
See you next Sat.

Fonoq35, trawl the interweb and find an unreg Mk1, stick a small deposit down and tell 'em you want it to be an '06 reg and they'll have to hold it till then. Easy peasy.

What the whole factory?
Bugger. I would hate to have to respond to all the ranting customers if my factory shut down for two weeks!

Cheers Al.

I also said the automotive industry, think somebody was trying to contact TVR power (IIRC) earlier this week and they are on a two week shut down at present, this being the first week.

I does make sense to have this shutdown as it improves staff reliability during the rest of the year. In as much that you don't get the fragmentation of numerous people taking holidays and disrupting production.
