I've had an occasional rattling noise coming from just behind the dash for the past couple of months.

Annoyingly, it never seemed to rattle long enough for me to get the bonnet off in time to locate where it was coming from.

However, after having the bonnet off over the weekend, it's been doing enough damage under there that I can see what it is!

How is it the wiper rod is now resting on the airbox? It's actually worn away the top of it slightly. From what I can see, the airbox is fully shut.

Is it possible to adjust so it sits slightly lower?

Cheers

Maybe check all the ball joints are good on the wiper assembly? As I'm sure you know, there should be a decent gap there. Maybe check the wiper motor mount is secure?

Thanks I'll have a look at that. I honestly can't remember what sort of clearance it should have.

I seem to recall that the airbox height is adjustable somehow. Maybe its sitting a bit high?

Alternative solution - dont use the car in the rain smile

There is what appears to be an adjustable bracket at the bottom front of the airbox.

Anyway, Just glad I had never got round to replacing the scabby original airbox with a nice shiny one.
