Hi guys - sorry for the noob question (1 week of ownership now!) - Just checking oil pressure and noticed that on the mytuscan page it says oil pressure should be oil pressure should be around 9-12PSI at idle and 25-35PSI at 2,000 RPM - I measured it at 65-70 oil temp and it was about 15idle and up in the Forties+ at 2k rpm. Should I be concerned or is this perfectly fine?

I also have noticed some drips of oil on the driveway - something I can check/try to sort myself or should I book it in? (Oil level is ok but I will top it up a bit once I find out what weight oil was used at last service).

Many thanks!

Darren

It may not be engine oil that's dripping!

Your pressures are fine. The figures quoted are the average ranges when fully hot.

At oil temp of 65+ mine idles at about 35psi and around 75psi under load. I checked with Racing Green and they said I was Just lucky to have such good oil pressure. Then again if I ask someone else they will probably tell me its too high. Personally I think yours sounds fine. I guess the gauges aren't that accurate anyway.

Thanks for the reassurance regarding the oil pressure..

Now as for the dripping!

Good point about my assumption it's oil. With my technical expertise I've deduced its not water..but beyond that is there any way I can tell if it is brake/clutch fluid, power steering fluid or oil? It's pretty colourless but then the oil is golden anyhow (checked dipstick this morn). I'll get the full bonnet off over the weekend and have a proper look but any particular areas I could check? Obviously want to try to fix myself if pos though I live just down the road from Racing Green - I'm not sure if they'll charge me the earth even if it's a simple fix =/

Anyone know if its safe to assume the weight of the oil used in the service is 0/40 if the service said it used Mobil 1? Service place not answering their phone =/

Just had a look underneath only place I can find vaguely greasy is the plate in the middle/middle under the body. It doesn't seem to be very much and I couldn't see any actual drips - will try again when engine running to see if it makes any difference.

If it is that - any idea how much I could expect to pay to get it fixed?

Well let the engine run and get up to temperature - no sign of drips - gave it a bit of a rev..still nothing. Then noticed a couple of drips had appeared under the left steering gaiter. Maybe the drip mark under the middle of the car actually occured earlier when the car was in a different position.

The steering feels fine. I cleaned up a little bit of what I assume was power steering fluid that I found around the gaiter but couldn't see any sign of a leak. Upon checking power steering fluid levels it is barely touching the dipstick but as I only bought the car very recently I don't know if this was the level it was at when I bought it. I've tried turning the steering from left to right a few times/full lock and then checked again now it was clean/dry to see if any sign of any leakage but could see none.

I will obviously keep an eye on it. Steering rack was fully reconditioned in June so hopefully shouldn't be anything going wrong unless it was poorly repaired.

Is there any other tests I should do on it that would bring a leak to light if there is one?

Many thanks for any and all advice!! I'm completely new to this getting hands on with the car malarky but I'm loving the learning!! =)

Have a feel under the oil hoses that go from the oil tank at the front of the engine to the block , and check the oil pipes that connect to the oil cooler ( silver cylinder type thing at front nearside). The pipes can drip and the oil will travel down the pipe, I have had two dripping hoses replaced recently. On my SP6 Cerbera.
