Did a 15 mile run to work this morning in the Tuscan. The trickle charge indicated it was fully charged. In the car it said it had 13.1v, after starting it that reduced to 12.3v. I had one stop to refuel. The voltage varied from 11.8 to 12.3v throughout the journey, depending on whether I used the heater or not. At the end of the journey it was on 12v. Several hours later popped down to see it in the car park and it reads 12.9v! How is that .. at 11.8v the battery warning display came on. Whats going on .. is it the alternator or something else?

Check the big fuse between the alternator and battery which is attached to the end of the starter motor in a black plastic case. They can crack or come loose stopping the alt from charging properly.

Also check the inertia switch if Basil Brush's advice doesn't fix it. I had a problem with mine and it kept showing low voltage. It's located in the boot on the top right hand side of the petrol tank.

I had this problem and it was the fuse had come loose. I have now re located it to the inner wheel arch so I can check/change without taking the air box off. If its a 100A strip fuse, replace with 125A midi in the same holder unless that's melted or corroded.

Just disconnect it and clean the connections then press the button.

I'm guessing with 7 TVRs on your profile you've opened at least one bonnet before. smile
