Six weeks ago I had the passenger side window decoder replaced.

I couldn't believe it this morning when again it has stopped working.

I'm guessing it's all this rain, soa half cover is now on order.

Meanwhile, I don't really want the inconvenience of having to leave my car at the dealers, which is some distance away.

I'm handy with a spanner and know my electronics. Can anyone tell me are these things serviceable, or is it a sealed unit? If I fix it myself I can at the same time attempt to improve the water proofing.

Phil.

Where are you ordering the cover from? Was thinking about getting a shower cap for the Tuscan myself. Cheers...

The decoders are dead easy to do and take about 1/2 hr. They cost about £20. If you have a search through the forumns I explained how to do it previously. They fail with water getting into the chip on the PCB. Putting extra silicone sealant over the existing on the PCB should improve things.

Ordered a hood cover from Leven - 150 big ones which I feel is extortionate, but if it saves the carpets and electrics it is money well spent I guess.

Thanks for the advice on the decoders. I'll get some silicone sealant at the same time and do the job that the dealer has obviously failed to do

While I'm at it, I've thought how useful a 'one touch' open/close would be for the windows. This could be incorporated into the push switch on the window dial. I'll see if I can figure out how the electronics work and how difficult it may be to do.

Cheers. I was hoping there was something cheaper than the Leven one available.

"One touch" for the windows... like when you spin the dial so it goes all the way up/down, you mean?
