Hi Guys, I really need some help please. I need to get new tyres for the Tuscan but i'm not sure which ones would best suit me. I'm not really hard on the car and won't be using it on a track but unfortunately living in Scotland with our unpredictable weather I would prefer a tyre that is good in the wet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mike

Goodyear eagle f1 assym 2's - upgraded from the original assymetrics. Top tyre, great in wet and not bad wear rate either.

There's been quite a few threads around saying the Avon/Uniroyal Rainsport is a brilliant wet weather tyre. Not used it myself yet tho.

I have Goodyear Eagle F1s on my Tuscan S. Freshly fitted in the Summer, have done around 2,000 miles on them and they're still fab.
Also used the same spec on my Tamora a few years ago, and a couple of Saab Aeros. No problems with them on any car so far....

he's asking for a wet tyre and buys an average tyre
the goodyear is a nice tyre(not the top) but not specially made for super performance on the wet
the uniroyal rainsport is

I'd never heard of the rainsports so not saying they wouldn't be better, but I don't think the OP needs to worry about the wet weather performance of the Eagles (new asymetric 2), they've been superb in both wet and dry for me, both on road and on track.

The only thing which i'd still be concerned about is dealing with standing water, but even having specific rain/wet orientated tyres, I'd still be very wary in the Tuscan so wouldn't be pushing any limits anyway!

Yes but contrary to popular belief they do have some dry days in Scotland wink so a compromise tyre should work well and I have found the goodyears to be very good in both wet and dry.

Again thanks for the advice. Rens, not that I have to back up my decision but the front tyres (lots of tread left)turned out to be Goodyear Eagles, the rears which were well worn were Toyos. It just made more sense to make all corners match. No need to take offenceranting

Another vote for the Goodyear eagle f1 assym 2. Went to them from Toyo's and they work well in wet or dry conditions on the Tam.

FWIW the F1 is not much of a compromise here - it's one of the very best wet weather tyres that you can buy; it's also an added bonus that the dry weather performance is great. (The only real downside is the performance on snow which is truely lacking.)

Get a set of winter wheels and tyres and that problem dissapears as well.

Nice colour Sag!

(Yes, I'm on Untragrip8s and Alpin 4s for the winter.)

Thanks

I was amazed when I put winters on the Sag and still had summers on the Bimmers how much better 380 BHP and winters was than 150 and summers.

All 3 have winter sets now, also lets me save the best wheels for when there is no salt on the roads and hopefully a reduced chance of damaging them.
