I’ve been with Privilege for a couple of years. I tried everywhere else I could think of last month at renewal time and couldn’t beat the Privilege renewal quote. (£856 – 29 years old, one SP30, one claim a few years ago, Tuscan kept on a driveway).

I've heard some good words about Liverpool & Vic.

Bearing in mind I'm just within the M25, I didn't think it too bad when my additional premium has ratchetted mine up to about the £1k mark - that's with A Manning, and I have to say their service seems excellent

www.confused.com have worked miracles for me...

If you have owned and/insured a TVR for at least a year, A Mannings are worth a look.

I was about to say Confused generally do much better than that!!!!!!!! BUT then I saw that you were 18!!!, enjoy the car, but I know if at 18 I had a tuscan I would have stuffed it within a few days, or first wet road, in fact iyt took me until I was 24 to own insure, AND yes STuff my first GRiff within 2 days, on a wet road. NO previous expereience of very powerful, lightweight rear wheel drive cars..

PLEASE get some driver training, ( ie. don palmer, ride drive, etc ) I've had loads, it really shows how much all drivers need to learn and How to enjoy the car safely.

Best of luck

Agree with bjwoods, not having a go in any way, but please take it easy; you've got your whole life to make a pillock of yourself in a car - doing it in the first few weeks won't prove anything positive!

I do feel sorry for people who have something like that as their first car, actually... where do you go after a Tuscan, and how do you compare it to anything else? Kind of wish I hadn't "peaked" so young!

Cheapest I could find was Direct Line - about £750 with the wife, protected no claims and hire car. Mine lives on the street as well !

Still doesn't appear on their website but elephant.co.uk are now doing the tuscan at very decent rates...

had a renewal quote from privilege at 1650, got them down to 1350 on the website (god they really do fleece you if you just renew!) but elephant weighed in at 904!!!

next best quote from someone else was 1450 (Tesco and a couple of others)

Have had a couple of claims on elephant in the past (not the Tuscan) including a write-off and they have been nothing but helpful...

That's because I made a big fuss about how it didn't make sense that they should insure all the other TVRs.

A possible word of warning to all you Tusc S owners insured with Liverpool & Victoria. I was recently shopping around for renewal quotes and contacted Liverpool & Victoria by 'phone (I had to 'phone them after several unsuccessfiul attempts to use their website). The lady I spoke to insisted that they could not give me a quote for my S as it was not on their list of TVR's. They had a Tuscan listed but definitely not a Tuscan S. I said that this was nonsense and asked to speak to an underwriter or someone in authority but was not allowed to (!!), and, in any event, I was told that there was no point in pursuing the matter as an S was not listed.

Now I don't know whether this was just a case of "poor product knowledge" on the part of the person I spoke to but if I was an S owner insured with L&V I think I would be inclined to double check that there was no misunderstanding re the vehicle model that was covered.

I was with Privilige and swaped to Direct line as they were cheaper. Makes no sense as they are the same company.
