I've noticed a whiring noise like an electric pump running when I come to a slow stop when the fule is around 20 litres, is this some sort of reserve pump on the tank???

There's only one fuel pump. Located in the N/S rear wheel arch.
Where does the sound come from. Rear ? Front ? Left ? Right ?

If you think it's electric : switch off ignition shortly while braking and listen. Be safe : don't depress clutch (loosing power steer and brake assist). If noise is gone it has to to with electrics.

My Chimaera's fuel pump used to whine now and again, but only when it was hot outside or had been stood in traffic for a while. I never tried to cure it, I just put up with it as it wasn't too bad.

Its weird, i took it out for a drive today (awesome car!!!) and there was 15litres of fuel left before I filled it up, yet it didn't do the noise? It sounds like a noise you'd get from an electric motor or a buxxing relay, only does it when coming to s slow short stop, then once stationary it stops. I'll look into it a bit more but its not really an issue, I was just wondering if they had an extra fuel pump for a swirl pot in the tank or something. It comes from the nsr and sound more like its in the boot area not where the standard fuel pump is.

Or it's the fuel rail returntube to the tank that's fouled. Once had that sort of problem (other car). Looked like the fuel pump had a defect. When idling, or decelerating the pump builded too much pressure and slowed down in rpm. Like a chainsaw at full rpm started cutting and decreasing rpm.
By burning enough fuel the pump came to it's normal rpm but decelerating or idling made it appear again.

Took me a long time to find the cause. Was a bend rubber-hose of the fuel return tube to the tank.

But if it's like this, you should experience the same on tickover.

Ronald.
