My S has now done nearly 20K miles and the suspension just doesnt feel as good as it did (and it was pretty good). So does anyone hav any experience of fitting Nitrons to a S? Or should I just refit standard dampers? All advice welcome.

Speak to Joolz about it - www.joospeed.co.uk

He will convince you in about... 5 seconds!

PS. Do you have CCC exhausts?

My Tuscan had RR dampers (height adjustable, same as the S, I believe), and I brought the Nitrons across to it from the Cerb - no way I was going to have another TVR without them. As stin says, give Joolz a call; for little difference to the same money as TVR parts, there's a whole world of difference in driving.

Having said that, I'm still trying to get mine set up "just right", but that's largely down to getting the right springs, etc. as I just brought them across from the Cerb, too. Joolz, as ever, is being first class and sorting it all out for me with zero hassle, though.

Are the standard dampers not height adjustable? The ones I took off my car were.

Nope - not originally. Think, as time went on, more & more got the "Red Rose" height-adjustable ones fitted, though.

Aren't the RR/S dampers on the lowest setting out the factory anwyay? I suppose you could want to raise the height of the car.......

I seriously hope mine weren't the better ones for TVR's sake.

Another question. Any insurance problems if non-standard shocks fitted?

Mine were also height adjustable although I do not belive they were Red Rose ones, but one thing is for sure they were not very good.

I had no problems as it was not a modification, but a replacement for un-obtainable OE.

"Red Rose" ones were the height adjustable ones. They're still no good, mind!

Not if you inform them. I spent a long time discussing it with Tesco. Several options:
1. lowered
2. replacement for unavailable part
3. uprated (factory fitted)
4. uprated (3rd party fitted)

(4) meant a premium hike of £250 PA. (1) meant no change (as did 3). Not sure about (2), but I guess it's free as well (although not strictly true...)

Think they had a fifth option as well, but I can't remember...

I meant in comparison to something like Nitrons/Ohlins (should've been more accurate with my statement). My Cerb was "fine" as standard. Whole different league with uprated dampers, though.

As a more budget option I got the Avo adjustables from Joolz and have to say for road use they perform very well particularly with the geometry settings from Joolz.

Whatever they were, they were a long way from fine.

I didn't tell Privilege and had no problems with the claim, which included rebuilding one of the front shocks.

A bit late to the party here and a bit off topic, but it could be worth knowing for future reference. Liverpool Victoria don't charge extra for any modifications unless they affect the engine capacity. Nor do they take speeding convictions into consideration. When I was looking for quotes they were the cheapest by a couple of hundred pounds.

Anyway..... I'll let you carry on discussing the Nitrons I never got 'round to putting on the Tuscan.

Hmm?
A bit late for me as I've already fitted Nitrons and aren't they good.
My car was registered in Early Apr 00 and was fitted with fully adjustable spring beds etc. One leaky bugger and then Nitrons. BUT... what is this blargh about non adjustable ride height?
My car one of first. Adjustable fully. Spring bed on screw adjust....???
Is my car different ? Does insurance need to know? Nitrons already fessed up. Is ther such a thing as a standard TVR? If not fek the money for mods! Mines standard random! And the Supercharger and GAS TURBINE BOOST OVERBANG were a factory option no cost! NO! the wheely bars were standard!
