Took the plunge yesterday and snapped up Lee's Mk2 TuscS. It's been 3 long years since I sold my Swordfish 'S' and my wife got fed up with my sulking. She bought me the Mk2 'S' for my birthday!

Great drive back from Essex - I'd forgotten how 'personal' the driving experience is. Everything about the Mk2 is a little better than the Mk1 IMO - it's still a little jittery betwen 50 -60 MPH but everything settles down at 80mph plus.

Just a small niggle: the air temperature gauge only registers "0C". If the sender was broken, wouldn't it come up as an EFI fault "H"? Any ideas?

Pictures to follow if it EVER stops raining!

welcome back to the smug grin select club of Mk 2 S Tuscans, Saggy performance, open top air and such a rare beast I have only ever seen one other on the road and as luck would have it I was in my Alfa spider !! Hardly ever see other tivs when out in mine.
Get some pics on even if in the garage, any excuse.

So, just over a month later and £6.5k lighter, my new P&J is almost ready for action. Things that needed doing:

New clutch (it hadn't completely failed, but was on its way. Huge difference with replacement)
New roof release cable - adjustment end totally corroded
Realign geometry - miles out!
Door solenoid
Replace all melted electrics and battery from corroded and shorting anderson connector
Fix windscreen washers - irritating
Minor bodywork repair - service bonnet hinge etc.
Rear drive shaft rubber boot.
Air conditioner - fix leaks, recharge, replace triway switch. STILL NOT WORKING - arrgh! All components seem to work o.k, but compressor not kicking in when switched on. Any suggestions? I guess it will be a wiring continuity issue - is it just a matter of tracing all the wires and checking each section methodically?

I replaced the cats while the exhaust was off. Almost as loud, but much sweeter to my ears - more Louis Armstrong, less Tom Waits, if you know what I mean!

Photos soon.

Sure - it all adds up. Looking through the itemised bill, the main jobs were the clutch and the electrical meltdown. All the fiddly bits were complicated by having to deal with previous owners' very inexpert fixes, such as inappropriate earthing and heath robinson repairs. Some of the bodges were done by outfits with a very good reputation on this forum, so I guess we are all at the mercy of the experts. You either have faith in your mechanic or you don't.

All this is complicated by the fact that the original builders of the car were bodgers themselves at times. Love TVR as I do, I so wish they had taken more care when they threw the things together in the first place.

That is a lot of money for that list. The biggest clutch bill I've had was 1200 quid.
