Is it just a bit of perserverence in getting the air box to change the air filter or is there an easier way to get it out as it seams stuck at the back? Maybe I am missing a screw/bolt from somewhere?

Any help please

There are 3 clips to release. 2 on the off side, 1 on the near side/engine side which you can't see easily but as noted you can reach around the side. It may have a split pin in it to stop it popping open. Once the clips are clear, remove the sender on the top and the two rubber hoses. The small front one first and the larger rear one when you can see it. You will need to wiggle the box cover a bit as it is tight around the windscreen wiper bar under the scuttle pannel, but you can remove it without needing to remove the scuttle panel or dis-connect the wiper arm. If you are standing on the offside you will need to pull up slightly on the engine side so that the box comes off the carbs, then slide and wiggle forward to reveal the air filter. Good luck.
