Ok following on from my previous thread where i locked my keys in the car whilst working on it, I have subsequently discovered that my second key fob doesnt disarm the alarm. (Yes I replcaed the batteries).

My question is, is it possible that the key fob having not been used for years and left with flat batteries has some how lost its pairing with the alarm.

On the abacus alarms site it says to put the alarm brain in program mode and resynchronize. Has any one tried this, it says that you need to arm and dis arm about 16 times.. which seems like it could shaft things in its self. Has anyone tried doing this?

I can buy a new key fob from Fleabay or Abacus and re-sync it.

My main key is fine.. would just like a back up. Really just wondering if this synchronisation procedure works

Why... you need one working key fob to synch with. Without it you need the original 16 digit code supplied with the car to generate the key.

It was simply a question to see if anyone had synched a new key with their old one!

Yes I have using the Abacus site method and it worked ok.

As said already, you can't just sync any fob to your alarm. It has to be coded first with the code on the card so this thread wouldn't help anyone in a dodgy way.

Thanks Basil. Just wanted to get feedback from someone who'd done this and it didn't make matters worse.

Thanks Geoff.

Is it obvious when you can sync. It says the working fob stops deactivating the system. Is that correct.
