Size DOES matter!!!

Even if it's only 3mm...
Bought a Tuscan II last year and the bump steer-effect on it was terrifying!
First I changed to 255/35-18 RSR semi slicks all round: no effect at all.
Then I mounted nitrons: very good in many ways but didn't reduce bump steer at all.
Yesterday I fitted 3mm spacers from ACT on all four corners. Effect: night and day difference, almost impossible to believe!!!
Car drives as on rails and tramlining has disappeared.
Can recommend to everyone!!!

PS: effect could be combo off all three factors.

I'm having the car serviced at str8six end of the month. Was thinking of having the rack raised but not so sure now as car feels very planted.
I'd still get the rack height set properly so you address any bump steer rather than just masking the effects. nrick said:
Tyre size and tyre pressures make a huge difference, have you raised the rack as well? Earlier cars are worse btw..........

On a mk2...thought these were pretty sorted in that respect? The spacers did a lot of good on my mk1 S though so who knows. As an aside to a previous poster, putting spacers to the rear won't do anything as the rear wheels don't steer.

You might be right Dave but I found even a tiny amount of bump toe-in on mine was very noticeable, especially under braking. Do all Mk2s have 10mm rack spacers as standard?Gassing Station | Tuscan | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
