that wasn't so bad (24k service)
Discussion
well, first service since I got it (24k service), done 15600 miles.
No real problems. needed new front and rear pads, tappets adjusting (one was well out apparently which might explain the rough tickover), and some water ingress to the sparkplugs: dried and sealed.
There is nothing obviously wrong with engine (which was using 1.5 litre of oil per 500 miles), I've just got one that doesn't like 0w40. Reading posts, etc it seems this choice was as much for sponsorship reasons as anything else... and some other dealers put 5w40 or 10w50 in. I'd heard a scottish dealer uses 10w60 and this seemed like it might solve my problems.
Kerridges checked with the factory it was acceptable (as they always use 0w40) and they came back with 'no problems to use Castrol RS 10w60 and it should DRAMATICALLY reduce your oil consumption'. So it got filled with that. I'll let you know how the oil consumption goes.
They even fitted new seals around the windows (no charge) so there is far less wind noise.
They noticed the heater fan was intermittent and recommended a new ECU/switches (350 quid) but I don't need them as I had my own fix (heater works as long as you switch windscreen wipers on for a second...class)..
Car drives totally different (well no brakes.. but they'll take a bit of time to wear in): engine pulls so much tighter and better. sounds better. idles better. oil pressure looks better.
Well chuffed and can recommend Kerridges.
total of 1080 quid or thereabouts, so about what I expected (even a bit less if I'm honest).
though it's still the most I've spent on a service in my life ! (more than my daily runner mundeano is worth!!!). but miss tuscan.... she is worth it.

You have no idea how much better you have made me feel!!
Mine goes in for it's 24k service tomorrow (23k done)
and although she seems to be running ok I have been bricking it (first service and all since I bought her)! To make matters worse I am going away for the week and so Chris Neils are going to hang onto her til I get back so if there is a problem I won't know til then.
Keep everything crossed for me!

Mine was about to go for it's 24k service with 18700 on the clock. It would have been the 2nd service since I got. 18k cost £650ish. £1080 sounds bang on for a 24k service.
It's amazing the difference between just before and just after a service though.

yeh sorry about that. I was gonna post on the end of the other 24k thread after your 'mine has blown up' thead but thought it would have looked too "well mine is alright na na nana na".
and I don't know it is yet to be honest.
more news about yours ? got any warranty ? any goodwill ? have you considered the henley rebuilds ?

Excellent news.
As far as the cost, well what else is going to give you that much enjoyment (legally) for 18p/minute (6000 miles at £1080 assuming average of 60 mph
)?
Will be interested in the oil situation. Am running on the Mobil "watery stuff", but it's too early to tell whether the couple of litres I've used is typical.
Good

So the beast is still alive then stu Glad to hear it.
Having the T350 now for a couple of months, I would have to say that the Tuscan is more stable on the road, and is more economical on fuel, believe it or not...
sure your right foot hasn't just got heavier ?

Does seem good on fuel though I agree. No worse than my 300 anyway. I got about 20 odd a gallon out it on a trip to devon which surprised me (get about 10 blatting it). Didn't know what it'd be like for long distances, but it was fine. Nice and sedate! And now I've got my tunes in, the miles just flew past.

Powerlord,
interested to know your oil consumption now. Still just a heavy drinker or did turn out to be valve guides or something?
sadly not done many miles since service (250). I meant to check it last night when I came back from a blast but forgot. I'll check over weekend.
Certainly noticeable difference in oil pressure and engine sounds a lot better.
They overfilled it by a good litre or so though so it's gonna be difficult to tell the oil consumption for a wee while.
