Squeaky bum time
Discussion
Can anyone recommend somewhere for geometry set-ups? I live in Hull & would prefer not to have to travel 4 hours each way if I can help it but I'm open to any suggestions if they're good!
I'm getting a bit tired of having 4 or 5 hold-your-breath moments every day as my car tries to throw me into oncoming traffic on the back roads I use to get to work as it tries to follow every line in the road it comes across!
Also on a different matter, there are a few items I am trying to acquire, so thought I'd try & cross your palms with silver if you have any of them spare before I go to a dealer. I'm after:
Front TVR bonnet badge,
2 x wiper mech lock-nuts (or at least a size and thread details?)
2 x seat backs
2 x metal rear screen clips
I could also do to replace the seats, drivers side support is broken (of course), the internal metal brackets are very rusty and the leather isn't the greatest due to 7 years of water ingress when it was left to die before I bought it! Would like a new pedal box as well at some stage due to the same reason.
I would refurb them but its my daily drive so can't really take it off the road for any length of time!

Changed October of last year, although it was the same before and after. I've heard reports of people having tow settings on the front 1 towing in & the other towing out, and the exact opposite on the rear! Someone at Brooklands who had the same issue told me of a place that did his in the midlands somewhere but can't remember what it was called...
Everything is as it was from the factory/shed. But if you're going to suggest changing to Nitrons or Gaz golds or something, I would love to but I really can't afford to! I'm running this thing on the tightest budget known to man, never has the phrase 'champagne lifestyle on lemonade money' been more fitting.
My 2000 mk1 was tramlining like crazy. It went in for an MoT last month and required all 4 shocks, rear wishbone bushes and front track rod ends. We were going to put Nitrons on it but there was a 3 week waiting list and the car was needed so we ended up with standard shocks. Also 4 wheel geo was carried out. It now tramlines far far less, almost not at all and is a lot more pleasant to drive.
...but it did cost a 4 figure sum.
Re other points I have just fitted Racetech metal rear screen clips. Very good bit of kit but a fiddly and cost £100 delivered.

Fair enough but they didn't handle well on the standard shocks when new, never mind after several years. Throw in old dried out bushes etc and it's more than just a geo check will sort out.If you want to try and calm it down, get the rack height set properly to get a tiny bit of bump toe-out and set the geo. It'll still be a bit iffy as the standard early cars were under sprung and over damped, giving the worst of both worlds.
