Emissions no cats

Is it even worth trying to get a Tuscan S through an MOT test without cats? Is it marginal/achievable with a bit of playing or a case of 'forget it'?

Assuming the latter, what is the cheapest way to fit cats to the car - either permanently or temporarily? I was quoted £1100 fitted for a set of oem cats by a dealer but surely there are options? As I understand it, I have completely standard pipes but the cats inside have been removed (as opposed to a bypass pipe). I have until April but just thinking ahead.

I can't get mine through without cats even with Power decat chip. It's pretty marginal with cats in.

If you just want to put a set in for the test then you can buy on ebay for about 150 quid a piece. I do this and they are ok for testing purposes but wouldn't leave them in any longer due to flimsy internals.

Thanks BB. How easy is it to insert them in place and then remove them? Is it necessary to bolt them in?

Was told that mine was off the charts, squeezes through (ish) with the cats in....

With mine Dom said "no chance" and that was with Power retuning the car just before the MOT.

It's a bit of messing about as you need to drop the engine undertray to get at them. You can leave it off for test and then refit once cats removed again. The cats are held with circular clamps at each end.

But provided the cars set up correctly you will defo want the decats back in after the test
