Stupid mistake - How much for a respray ?
Discussion
I got back last week from a 4 week trip to the US to find that my paint work is all messed up.
I've had to come out to Germany and so havn't realy seen how bad until I get home on Thursday.
Basically I just had block paved layed for additional parking at the back of my house and left for the US with my Tuscan sat on it with its outdoors full cover.
When I got back I found that some of the excess sand left on the new area had blown up and inside the cover and done a nice job on the paint work.
Being Sapphyre Blue it shows the slightest of marks.
Apart from checking it when I get home, there are tons of stone chips at the front end along with the paint damaged caused by a tosser who threw an egg at me as he drove past, so a respray is now much closer.
I guess I'll go up to Blackpool as I'm not so far away.
Trying to up-load a photo but its now working !!!
She'S portland gray leather and dark gray carpets.
The swirly scratch marks drive me crazy so I'll be going for a lighter metallic colour.
Any suggestions for a combo with my interior are welcome.

Sorry to hear that. If the scratches aren't too deep, a body shop or detailer could machine polish them out.
If they've gone deeper, you might need the clear coat rubbed totally down and reapplied. I had the rear end of my car sorted last year. Due to the Tuscan not having clear body panels, the clear coat had to be rubbed down from the doors backwards. Also had a small amount of paint sprayed and the boot lid done. Cost about £800 I think.

Ouch - that hurts - sorry to hear that Tony. I agree with the polish route first, even if you decided to give it a go yourself (if you don't like it you would have been painting anyway).
My car got hit on the weekend, at least half is getting a repaint, I need to decide if I stay red or go to yellow (as it was when new).
I get the desire to change to a colour that won't show swirls so easily, that is a part of my motivation for considering colour change.
cheers,
Rob.

Self inflicted injusies always seem to hurt but life goes on.
Hope yours didnt suffer too much damage ?
I may try to get it detailed locally before my holidays but time is realy tight.
I'm definitely going for a respray eventually because of the swirls issue on darker colours. I also think that lighter coulours shop the shape better.
Does anyone know a mobile Detailer in the Cheshire, North Staffs area ?
Cheers.
Actually, I think I'll make this a new thread.
