Hi just been out for a run in this glorious sunshine.
It accured to me when putting car away in the garage how hot car was(bonnet)
Do any of you guys have a cooling down regime? All that heat under the bonnet can't be good can it?
I've put a cool fan in front of car!

I'd probably let it cool down outside before putting in the garage - I sometimes use an outdoor cover - I don't put the bonnet part of the cover on until after it's cooled down.

I put my Cerb in the garage then open the bonnet to let the heat out and it stays like that until I next go into the garage or it has cooled down.

Has anyone here had a bonnet conversion done?
If so how much did it cost? And are there any drawbacks?

Couple of folks on here have done the job themselves.

Google 'Tuscan hinged bonnet' and you should get several hits.

Walford has done a fancy job using 'pantograph' type hinges, but most have opted for MrChips hinges.
I used the latter, got some woven mat and resin/hardener from local boat builder, assorted stainless c/sunk bolts and nuts plus a couple of gas struts had materials bill set at about £120.

Week end in the sun on my drive with a mate wielding the dremel and job's a good'un. Did this last year and thank God every time I want to fiddle with w'screen washer pipes because the heat has got to pass' side AGAIN!! Or when I just want to do rouine stuff.

They have done a great job, rose jointed hinges and a few mods to the cooling system. You will see the sight glass and they ve fitted a self bleeding system.
