A pal of mine has just had a new set of Nitrons fitted to his Tuscan by a TVR Independant,he has done approx. 500 miles on them and it tries to chuck him off the road when he hits a white line.He is not happy with the set-up,any body who can recommend somewhere around the Midlands for a full geometry set-up?

Sounds like bump steer?

Spacers on the front wheels to correct the offset allegedly help a lot with that....

Hi,

I would recommend you go to Centre of Gravity. Bump Steer is a typical response. In reality it could be anything and everything, ride height, bump/rebound settings, the list goes on and they investigate and tune everything.

http://www.centregravity.co.uk/

They are based in Atherstone, Warwickshire, and they will do a complete overhaul of the car's suspension, with full setup. To say they spend time on the car is an understatement, its a full day:

Chassis tuning techniques:- • Minimising weight transfer • Minimising bump-steer • Minimising roll-steer • Centre of gravity re-location • Corner weight distribution (cross weight ratios) • Roll-centre adjustment • Ride height adjustment • 4 wheel alignment geometry adjustment (camber, castor and toe) • Tyre pyrometry and tyre pressure monitoring

They have experience of Nobles, Porsches, TVR's etc. Mines booked in for August and I have two mates, one with a Cerb and another with a Noble, who are well pleased with the results.

Money well spent, for peace of mind, if your car is setup properly. Tbh, the setup of the car, is as important, if not more so than power etc.

Worth a call

Steve

if the indi has set the car with standard geo, i would try playing with front track first

You get what you pay for. You have to see it to believe it. It's not adjust ride height, geo, corner weights, which takes about 1.5 hours and you pay £180 for it. Which is what I had done, and was adequate, but not perfect.

It's a 8:30 to 6 or even later with them, they look at everything, ride height, performance of shocks, everything. Tang Soo Tim, went there recently with his Cerbera and did a good write up and his car was transformed (this was after it had been setup before by a reputable tvr garage). They took him out in the car first, to see what was up with it, slalom courses, over different road surfaces, round bends, pushing the car in different conditions... Following that, it was in the garage, on a virtual bumpy road machine they have to see how the shocks performed, then they adjust, then they test, then they adjust, then it's on the road, then its adjusted... This goes on until it is perfect.

Meanwhile, your connected to wifi, so you can work, or surf the net, coffee's and teas etc.

Remember, this is all they do, it might be overkill to some people, but in my mind, its a great investment, for those that drive their cars and want that extra performance. Check them out, go down there, have a chat, see how they work on cars, if you don't like, go for a simple setup elsewhere.

I'm there on the 7th August, so will do a comprehensive writeup with photos and my thoughts.

They're bloody cheap for what you actually get yes

A visit to Chris is the best bang for buck you can spend on a car IMO.

Well,as i mentioned in the OP,the Nitrons were fitted & supposed to have been set-up by a fairly well known TVR Independent......so if he can`t get it right.............!?!

Another very positive vote for Chris and Centre Gravity ...he set up my last tuscan thumbup...and tackled all sorts of seized components working well into the night ...after a full day.
He set up my wifes Boxster and he's doing my new Tuscan in August ....He's an abolute pleasure to deal with and has a practical way of explaining what he's doing and involving you.

as i posted above, lots of other issues will do this to a Tuscan, tyre size and type being one, front track being another

the more complex one can be bump steer, but you have not posted if this is the case

the geo could be spot on and the car still tramline
