Oh no, it's another what exhaust thread!!!
Discussion
Sorry, I know this has been done to death, but with all the wealth of information in past thread I'm not completely confused.
The tuscan is 100% standard, cats, back boxes, cans, etc.
I'm not really wanting it to be much louder, nor am I too bothered about much more in the way of pops and bangs (I like the muffled pop they make now)...
What I would like is the general tone to be a little deeper though.
Whats the best route, part sleeve cans? replace the whole system with a larger bore?
Or just stop being a fanny, decat and sleeved cans?
(BTW, whilst I'd like to decat to save the gearbox and my left hand all that heat changing them out every year for MOT would be a ball-ache)
Thanks!

Decat is worth the hassle IMO. I'd start with that and then see what you think and go from there.
I suppose the straight through pipes aren't mega bucks so if I don't like it I can always pop the cats backs and flog the pipes.Just about to pop the car up on some ramps to have a nosey and see how easy the cat swap looks.
I've tried many a different configuration on my mk2 S (albeit with different aims) but from my experience it's the end cans that make the most difference to the tone.
If you just want to make it deeper, and not louder, then try the ACT stainless end cans. They were actually too deep for me but that's down to mine being decatted.
If the end cans still don't do what you're after then go for the decat.
I've got the act full catback system and it didn't change the tone but did get rid of the droning that I was experiencing. Now with decat, act system, and ccc's, it's v.loud but wouldn't be what I consider deep.
You're welcome to pop down to Reading to have a listen, or why not pop down to the Berkshire meet on the 20th Aug as there's normally quite a few to listen to!

I think coming along to the Berkshire meet makes a lot of sense!
I'm guessing its a TVR Car Club jobbie?
ETA balls... Im in Northumberland on the 20th for work.
The next thunder in the tunnels looks like the next meet I will be at

I've tried a few combinations:
Standard with cats - Lovely engine note but nowhere near enough volume.
Standard with decats - Very little difference, overrun still too muffled and volume barely increased.
CCCs with decats - Much better, still quite tinny. Overrun hilarious.
CCCS with decats and backboxes removed - Far deeper note, much meatier. Loses the rasp but does resonate when coming off the gas circa 3000rpm. Oh, and for 95% of owners, probably far too loud. I have grown to adore it and won't be changing back.

I am on CCC cans with act de cats it make my ears hurt if pressing on with the roof off.
Haha, precisely what I'm not trying to achieve!

I remember a few years back at one of the TitT runs, it was a toss up between a griff and an interloping rs6 both with crazy loud exhausts. Was seriously painful when they drove past in a tunnel! Hillarious but not something I could live with!

Just had my Tusc MOT'd today and the tester told me that the regs changed a couple of months ago so regardless of emissions they also have to check whether the cat is present. I was thinking about going de-cat but it seems too much hassle if I've got to re-fit them every MOT time.
Apart from the emmission levels I wonder how the tester would for example, know if you have a decat or empty cat casing from the exterior?ILoveMondeo said:

It is very civilised under 4k but as said loud when playing. Hmmmm must be getting old as I have went out my way to make the cebera quite. Just leaving the Tuscan as is, I nearly got a section 59 ( asbo) a few weeks ago for giving it some under a bridge. ( woops)
