The majority of figures from TVR are unreliable as they didn't keep very good records for a number of reasons.

What we can be sure of however is the fact that all models are rare with some being VERY rare.

V8 GRF won't tell because he probably doesn't know....although for a number of reasons he likes to allude otherwise.

The DVLA would know how many were registered/taxed in the UK surely?

Maybe a freedom of information request might illicit the numbers actually on the road?

Dont worry Uwe, its part of the mystery of English middle Management.
Lot of;-
"Not my Job".
"I dont know".
"was off sick that day".
They didnt have the German SAP system (Stop All Production).
But used the more charismatic and beloved English WAP system (Wing and a Prayer).
Hope this helps.
Tony.

Maybe they don't know the real number because they had to dump a load of Griff 500s in Germany when they didn't meet the performance specs in the UK smile .
Figures never seem to have been TVRs strong point.

Been talking to Paul eh? I thought it was the Germans who sent them back as they didn't meet the specs.

TVR kept poor records for a number of reasons that I do know the answer to so if you want the full detail.

1. The simple one was simply they were rubbish at that sort of thing, they had no idea how long and how much it cost to make/adjust/fudge their cars which was another reason for their downfall.

2. Rather less honestly, to ease cash flow they 'factored' their invoices which obviously depends on output, nothing dishonest there but I've been told that cars were moved around with different number plates when the assessor came to make it appear that they had completed more cars than they actually had. I'm sure something similar went on with exports.

Chassis numbers where also 'generated' ad-hoc for similar purposes.

3. That is another reason not to base the existence or otherwise of TVRs based on colour or its numberplate.

Smolenski was caught out by that when he came looking for 'all' the Speed 12 Cerberas and Typhons he 'owned'.

The DVLA figures are of no value with regards to specific models as a good number of TVRs are just listed as TVR on their V5 without a model.

So this figures are too high??????????
Only less Tvrs made than stated??!!
If it is true our cars should be higher valued due to smaller numbers produced.
and also a lot of produced cars have gone their last way to Bell Hill/Steve Strange and his friends already.
All very interesting

Tvrs with Chevy engines are bds.
Chevy or Corvette with Chevy engines are accepted, but not in a TVR.

Also because TVR power can do the final fix for the Speed six engines.
Here in Germany a lot of the Ls7 engines have blown up after 30000 mls.
Really a lot!!!!!!!!!!, the bill for a new LS7 is double than costs of a rebuilt from TVR Power!
