That diff bush...
Discussion
I'd just like to say what an enjoyable experience I've had the last couple of days getting that top diff bush out from the chassis. Having bought a S&P bush removal tool I discovered the hole in the large part is too small for the bush to slide into so I had to bore it out. Then the thread stripped in the tool so I had to get some M10 studding to replace it with a nut on each end. After shearing a few bits I discovered using numerous long socket extensions, a big hammer then a bigger hammer I could knock the bush out from outside the rear wheel. I did read a few posts on here about burning them out but even I am not that brave.
I would just like to say good luck to anyone who is about to do this and if a garage offers to do this for six hrs labour charge bite their hand off!
On the plus side while the diff is out I have painted the rear of the chassis in por15 grey and am getting numerous bits powder coated so it should look pretty good when my rebuilt diff goes back in.
Now I've got that off my chest I'll get back to sxxt Saturday night tv and the next bottle of Sauvignon blanc.
