Tuscan owner report on Top Gear website
Discussion
Is this old news? Makes for depressing reading:
TVR Tuscan
[September 2003]
I bought a new TVR Tuscan in October last year. I picked the car up and on driving it home I realised something was wrong as the engine was not happy to idle - I had to keep my foot on the gas or the car stalled. I called the dealership which came and picked the car up (by transporter) the next day - the car was away for one week and the diagnosis was that the throttle needed to be adjusted.
I took the car out the day I got it back and after 30 minutes of driving it was all over the place, juddering and lurching. Also, the electrical panel started showing faults. Again the dealership came and picked the car up, car was away for another week, this time with several problems. It had got wet, there was an electrical fault and cylinder six kept getting blocked?
The car came back and sat in my garage overnight. I went to start it the next morning and it just wouldn't go. Eventually I got it started and it would tick over for several seconds then cut out with a terrible clunking noise coming from the engine.
Enough was enough at this point. The dealership felt the same, so the car was taken to Blackpool where it was looked at (and according to them) worked on for six weeks! Salt in the filters was what they came up with and the car came back in January 2003. It has sat unused in the garage ever since as it started producing black smoke from somewhere under the bonnet, then gave up the ghost completely and just wouldn't start.
I'm now in dispute with TVR and would love to hear from anyone who has had a Tuscan problem.
