Hi all

I have managed to stop most of the leaks on the Tuscan and have fitted a new door / roof seal rubber. I still have a leak where the rubber doesn't touch the glass in the door. I have tried PVC tube in the seal to give it a bit more body but then the door won't shut properly and the window won't fully close. Is the answer to find some softer foam to shove up the seal or is there a trick I have missed

Thanks

Steve

When you say the rubber doesn't touch the window, presume you mean on the front/rear?
If so then I would take the door card off and look to adjust the whole window runner units. They're bolted together so using some small spacers you should be able to move the window closer to the car.
Do they currently slide into the groove in the targa panel seal ok?

Thinking about it you might be on to something there, I didn't think of that it does fit as well as it should at the top so I'll have a go tomorrow

Thanks

It should be fairly easy to see how to adjust once the door card is off. The only thing thing to be aware is that you might need to remove the window itself from the clamps in order to gain access. Not difficult, just a paint to get it all aligned again so I'd recommend doing it under cover!

Dave's option above is one way - my suggestion as follows.

For a first attempt, and assuming you think the runners in the door are reasonably well aligned - and door is just 'kissing' rubber in targa top centrally, I'd check the "tang" behind the 'hockey-stick' finisher each side of the windscreen.

The 'tang' is a bendable piece of metal covered in plastic which forces glass onto the top portion of the seal. You can try bending this to improve the window/seal contact pressure. It's a bit trial & error - too much 'bend' and the window will struggle to finish closing.

Also, if the window wont make contact with the targa seal, it's final height on closing can be adjusted by a 10mm bolt on the top of the winding rack (assuming Mk.1 Tuscan) at the rear of the door. Again, careful tweaking is required here.

Thanks chaps finally got some dry weather to go out and have a go at sorting the leaks. Adjusted the runners and the top tab and the glass is touching the rubber all round, what we need now is some rain to test it smile

I would take a water hose, starting from bottom of door, 1 person sitting inside and checking for leaks.

The only way to do this job properly.

Hi Uwe

I have already done that and all is dry. Although I think the weather will give me a second opinion soon enough smile

Well got up this morning and checked the car and I have a foot well full of water frown , I can discount the doors now so where to check next ? The car sits on a drive with about a 20 degree tilt nose down if that has any bearing on it. Any suggestions as I am feeling a bit defeated at the moment.

Cheers Steve

sellotape/tuck paper all over the inside to see where gets wet and where doesn't then focus on the area identified?
