What's it sound like, does it drone on a bit on a motorway run or does it sound ok.

Way to loud in my opinion, I had that set up on my Tuscan for one week then put the cats back in and bought a set of reat cans from the carbon can company. The car popped and banged like crazy and was comfortable on longer motorway drives. Why not try sleaving the rear cans and see how you get on but I wouldn't decatt at the same time .

Pretty sure this is decatted and sleeved. It will be seriously loud.

I refitted the cats then fitted these straight through Powertech bad boys. I would say the noise is borderline being uncomfortable; for me would be too much with the cats also out - each to their own though...

Yes it's loud and can be annoying to have the same frequency for long periods. Just don't drive on the motorway all the time. It's boring on there anyways.

If there's one thing I've learnt.. its that for some reason almost all Speed6's sound different, even with similar exhausts!

My 2S never sounded that raspy with the full decat and straight through (Powertechs)!

I say definitely keep the decat for the residual benefit of lower underbonnet temps. If you do find it too droney, then I can recommend the ACT system but still with straight through end cans such as Powertech. The rear ACT boxes have some sound deadening in them, but you don't loose the nice sound from the end cans.

Makes me giggle every time though!! http://youtu.be/aPo-Q_Cld9s

I'd forgotten how good a speed 6 sounds.

Decat and half sleeved cans is about right IMHO. It stops the raspy noise you get with decat and straight through cans.

The car in the youtube vid posted by M4tti was mine... Sadly recently sold :-(. I had it sleeved first for a couple of years and loved the sound. I had some de-cat pipes in the garage and needed to see what it sounded like with them fitted before I sold. I have to say it was completely different and dare I say, a bit too loud. It was very raspy and the pops and bangs were huge! I preferred the sleeved only route and did feel a little embarrassed at times when striking up in a car park and the alarms going off on cars parked nearby.
Its all down to personal preference I suppose but for me it became too agricultural and detracted from the usual sweet sound of the SP6.
That said, I never found it too obtrusive when cruising and hard acceleration was a great noise. It was just on overrun that it was just a little too much.

Hi Jim, the clip of your car pulling away in the low light is awesome. I like to do a bit of speed six sound trawling on YouTube this time of year when there's not many opportunities to take the tuscan out. Your clip is one of my favourites

It reminds me of getting up early on a Sunday morning and driving down to goodwood for the breakfast club biggrin

And another of the same car. Probably one of the best sounding engines ever made.

My old Tuscan was decatted, with unsilenced cans and the rear backboxes just behind the end cans removed. It was biblical, particularly on overrun.

That said car with cats back in.

Unfortunately I had to refit the standard cans to get it legal in Germany.
I kind of miss the raspy noise, but who knows if the cans suddenly appear on it again wink
