Has anyone ever fitted LED type rear tail lights? (Brake, reverse, fog)

Trying to think of little details to spruce up the Tuscan and came across these on eBay:

Opinions also appreciated! biggrin

I wasn't so keen on the lights being so low down on the MK1 for safety reasons ...so i incorporated some LED stop and tail lights into an S spoiler , where the reflectors normally go .
I used these LEDs from ebay, and a clever chap in a body shop recessed them into the spoiler ..very happy with the result ..and along with a high level brake light I feel a lot better braking or being seen at night ....

If you want to remodel the rear then maybe these ULO lights could work for you.

Or replace the bulb with an LED bulb.

If you want to just have brighter bulbs for safety, take a look here as I've just upgraded my bulbs.

Mattus - really like what you've done there by wiring up brake lights into the S spoiler. I too have an S spoiler so I might look into this at some point.

A900ss - Thanks for highlighting this topic, I was wanting to upgrade to some kind of LED as that's the way most modern cars seem to be going (well the German cars at least) but was unaware of this particular CREE kind of bulb. Think ill give them a go, cheers!

Mattus - I'd love a close up photo if it's possible showing where you splice in the wire to the rear lights to make it so the lights only light up when braking and not normally! I need to do mine but worried I'll splice it at the wrong place and it'll be on whenever my lights are on.

Hi Darren ...I don't have a photo as all the carpet is now stuck back into place ...but in the boot are 4 light pods, normally held on with Velcro ...some unscrew .....the 2 outer ones are the tail / stop lights. If you remove the pod , there are 3 wires from memory ..black (earth) , a green and a red/green I think ....one of these is the tail light, one is the brake light from the dual filament bulb.
Switch your tail lights on and put a multimeter across one of the wires and the earth ....if it has a voltage ...then it's the tail light ....so tap the other one.I just used the fold over clips that cut into both wires...and did the same with the earth.
Good luck ....I also fitted a high level centre brake light in this way .

That's awesome thank you for the description - I think I'll be able to work it out from that.

By the way - is there an earth point in/near the boot of the Tuscan that I can use for a car amplifier 4 gauge earth wire? Basically it started off as I wanted a nice metal faced head unit to match the interior - and only one I could find ended up being a high quality one (rrp over 1k but purchased for 200) through ebay imported from Japan - but because it's such a high quality unit it would be a waste not to give it an amp/decent speakers - so then I picked those up..anyhow now I have a ton of audio equipment to fit lol..I only wanted it to look nice wink If not will see if Str8 Six can drill me an earth point to the chassis through the bottom/side of the boot (the earth cable is only 3 feet though so doesn't allow much flexibility)
