Oil temp sensor

A while back I got a mate to change my oil, but he couldn't remove the plug to drain it off. So he took out the oil temp sensor & drained it from there. Since then I've had a fault showing saying the sensor is open circuit so I assumed the wiring had been damaged, however upon further inspection it appears that not only is it unplugged, but the plug from the car is no longer there?!

Does anyone know where the cable comes through from the engine bay, or have any pictures of where it should be?!

I don't have access to my car right now but I have a pic of the engine bay that might help. The red arrow shows the excess cable coiled up just before it goes to the sensor on the oil tank. The red line shows the rough route of the cable. The blue arrow points to the aircraft type connector that runs through the bulkhead. If you still can't find it I'm sure someone else will be able to provide a bit more info or I will have a proper look next weekend when I have my car.
