I'm back in the fold again. It was only a matter of time really, but I'm hoping for a step up in reliability this time having learned a few "lessons" first time around.

Last time it was unlucky 777: 7 months, 7K miles, 7K spent in maintenance alone! Keeping all extremities firmly crossed.

I'm currently trying to sort out some good UK and Europe breakdown cover and wondered if anybody had any experiences that could guide me to the right provider? I'm worried about quibbles over multiple callouts should the worst happen again! Also it looks from looking at a few policy schedules that European cover can vary greatly. Is there a good specialist who would be worth giving a call that isn't going to show it's presence on comparison websites?

Lastly, I notice the AA are providing Breakdown insurance that covers the first £500 of any repairs required off the back of a breakdown, has anybody had any experience of this, or similar from other providers?

Cheers!

Welcome back.

I use the AA parts and labour insurance. Inclusive of breakdown cover it's about £170 a year.

No experience of having to claim though because the car's been well behaved for the past couple of years.

I've used the AA parts and labour warranty. I've claimed on both the Jag and the TVR. No quibbles on either. Tuscan was after the engine went and Jag for rear shocks. Well worth the money!

What did you get Steve? Sorry I withdrew mine but they do get under your skin!!

No worries... I totally understand. As I recall I was suggesting to you that you should have a cooling off period before you sold. Glad it worked out for you to keep her.

I've just paid the balance on T500 CAN this morning, it's the reflex olive car currently in the classifieds. High mileage, but when I went to look at it I just couldn't say no. It is a credit to it's prior owner and is in considerably better condition than N19 COM was!

Pick her up on Saturday when I get back from Geneva.

I'll post some pics when I take some that can do the colour real justice!

Congratulations on your purchase, I was going to go and have a look at that one myself if it was still available when I got
back from Spain next week. Looks like a nice car with a good engine rebuild recently too. Hope you enjoy her.

Just picked her up today, the drive back home and through Central London for a quick photo at Greenwich has vindicated the choice. It's a lovely runner, and despite it's previous owner describing it as no garage queen, he has clearly been fastidious about it's upkeep.
