Hi
Just got myself a Go Pro camera, and was wondering where people mount there's.

Depends on the girlfriends mood.

Oh sorry wrong forum.

Had a camera on the roll over bar and on top of the windscreen, give good overview and make watching intresting as it gives a driver type view but with a wider angle

How did you mount it on the top of the windscreen?

Depends on context in which you're using it.

A few options (I use a Drift Ghost HD) used on boys tour of the Highlands last month:
Inside of windscreen on a sucker mount. Mic extension cable fed through the car and underneath rear window between Perspex and rubber seal, then fed around inside lip of boot. Tie mic connected and mounted using tie clip on rear number plate to capture the subtle tones of the Tuscan's pipe work.
Or an adhesive mount underneath rear "bumper" with a slight upwards & out wards angle to catch overtakes, or to frame some decent stills without having to muck about with lying on the ground. With waterproof case on it - to protect from grit and stuff.

Drift Ghost has wifi connection to iPhone mounted on dash, so super-easy to frame shots from the driver's seat (when stationary, officer!). I'm guessing GoPro has similar.

If using on a track day you probably won't be allowed to use a sucker mount inside.

Hope this gives you food for thought.

Neil

Ps
If using a windscreen mount, try to go for as short an arm as possible otherwise the cam will vibrate to bggry....

I've used mine on the rollover hoop (external) with a suction mount, on the inside of the screen, and strapped to the seat headrest in the past. The first gave good pictures but needed an external mic for best results, the screen position had too much reflection, result of a light coloured dash top frown, and as expected there was too much vibration from the seat mount. I have made a purpose built mount installed where the interior light normally fits for an upcoming trackday, which can be pointed either forwards or back, still haven't tried it in anger yet, maybe this weekend smile

Have you got an iPhone or Android? There are some good track day type apps out there now

I use one of these behind the seats for in-car views. Pretty solid construction for the money and camera is rigid mounted on a handlebar/roll bar mount.
