2/ nothing but joyfull driving.

I know were im putting my money. 2

Why don't you drive it very often ?
I've had mine 13 months and done nearly 7000 miles in it. And it was at the seaside for 2 of those months !

It didn't go bang 'til it reached 18800. So yours still has a very big chance of doing so.

Back on Topic.....

I hope you're right YI8. The dealerships seem to be more confident about the latest crop as well.

Only time will tell. I hope they are good as I just had mine rebuilt and don't fancy another big bill in 18-24 months time.

Alan it was not compulsory that all pre 03 engines went
on holiday. Yours may well be one of the many good ones.
You must remember the sp6 head has an inherant fault but not enough to cause the many problems the buyers at TVR caused by buying crap engine parts. If driven properly and serviced the sp6 should be as good as any other super engined car. My original thread was based on (have them up north finally got rid of them crap parts)

Actually I have owned it 11 months and taken the mileage from 4K to 14K, so I use mine more than you.

Aaah, That's very good.
Unfortunately, I have 2 kids to ferry about from time-to-time so the miles don't go on as quick as I'd like.

supergrass .... what's it in for ?

It's strange up till recently I would worry about piling on the miles.
I wish I could use mine more, don't have the "problem" needing 4 seats but tend to use it weekends only.
I have owned a AJP8, RV8 and this S6 I have to say I prefer (IMHO of course) the S6 over the rest for power delivery and sound.

Agree with the context of the thread, and that things should be much more happy-happy-joy-joy now. I'd probably have to slight exception with the quoted text above, though (if you change the "03" for "(mid) 02" at least)...

Yes, I've noticed people talk of this '03 engine thing often.
If anyone looks at JSGs graphs he did from the stats collected on this site, it 'looks' very like something changed with the engine at about mid '02, as since then the failure rate seemed to drop significantly.

I hope so anyway as mine was Oct '02.

I've just got mine back from it's 18k service (covered since May '03), and apart from the head gasket going 9000 miles ago and the speedo sensor not working at the moment, it's been fantastic!

In fact, I love it so much I've decided to put a hold on the Sagaris I ordered last year as my Tuscan is so that I can't bear to part with it!

Speedo issues - I know that one.
I believe they now have a third version of the speedo transducer, so might be worth you getting the new one fitted - costs around £70 plus labour (unless under warranty of course).

If del boy description is spot on it looks like the 03 models are starting to show cracks. Maybe i should have opted for option 1

When does the mass exodus happen ?

Does anyone know where the speedo transducer lives?

Interesting, where do you get these facts from?

What is the inherant fault with the speed six head?

Funny how the designer of the engine (including the head) has stated the design is fine, it is the mods done by TVR which have caused the problems

How is it that you know different?

Just wondering you understand
