Two tears ago when I was thinking of buying my Tuscan a friend mentioned PH to me (thanks gf15) as a good source of information and help.
I came on here and it was great. There was some solid advice from people who owned the cars, not all of it positive by any means, and a great deal of encouragement. The enthusiasm of the owners came through and every query I had was answered constructively, whether through the forum or privately by email. The Tuscan forum on PH was a genuinely great place to be.
Now it's a nightmare. You only have to mention the S6 and you get enraged posts slagging off the engine from people who don't even have a TVR, let alone a S6 and furthermore openly state that they'll never get one!! One feels reticent to post anything positive as we know it will be flamed the moment it lands on the forum.
Can we, in this season of goodwill, get back to the stage where this forum is here to help and inform people (and that includes people with problems to share) and away from the war zone that we are currently in.
(And yes I know my fuse is as short as anyone's.

Totally agree. It is great to have somewhere to be able to get impartial and useful advice without someone grinding their axe.
Himself has an 'S' and it will be 2 years old in July 2005. Starts first time, every time, over 3,000 miles around Europe. Total joy to drive, joy to own. Infact, he is loath to replace it in July.

Sadly, it's a side-effect of being successful. The more people you get in one place, the more 'trouble' there will be.
It's a shame to see the pointless rants, slanging matches and unfounded negativity that have appeared here, but it was bound to happen.
Why was it bound to happen? You don't get it in the Cerbera forum, etc. and there are WAY more posts in there.
I think the problem is that people have either had a very good or a very bad experience with their Tuscans... They've either been faultless or been off the road for months having engine rebuilds. That will tend to polarise the opinions of the owners, with little middle ground. If, when a thread comes up with the infamous letter S and number 6 in the title, the opinions were based on general consensus rather than individual anecdotes, this polarisation might manifest itself a little less...
Sorry, being doing lots of analysis work today, so my brain's in a bit of a logical mood, still...
I agree totally. When I was looking for a Tuscan this forum was an excellent source of info. I even received sensible replies to questions about reliability.
It does bug me that a lot of threads, regardless of what they started as, end up with the same ex/non owners posting the same pointless stuff. I realise that this is a public forum and everyone is entitled to an opinion but for god's sake can the people concerned change the record. A number of people on the Tuscan owners group no longer post on here for that reason which is a shame for genuine potential owners.
My Tuscan is used daily as my only car in all weathers and it's fantastic, so there.

A year or so ago I ran a long living thread re us more long term Tusc owners helping the newbies. Loads of people joined in and advice was very well received. Now every Sp6 thread degenerates into personal abuse and goes around in circles. The bottom line is, if in doubt dont risk it. No ammount of positive response will convince some people. There are no magic words which will make the probs some have had go away.By all means discuss them, and you will be very sympathetically received.Vent your frustration, its only natural, but I believe it is pointless to just slag the engine off continuously as the supporters, (myself included) will defend it, and common sense goes out of the window. Please lets just get back to discussing our cars and assisting prospective new owners.
Sadly I think this has little hope of success.
Very good post BTW unrepentant.

I love you

Well said, this is my first post for about a month as I was getting fed up with reading stories, I am fully aware of what I have done in buying a Tuscan, as with any specialist car, you need to treat the car with respect. It is really annoying dawdling along at 60 mph when everyone is legging it past you at 80 with huge grins, whilst the car warms up. But i intend to enjoy mine.
Just remember all of life is a risk, sometimes the more risk you take the greater the rewards.
Lets cut it out, there are enough stories to put off the people not prepared to take the risk and enough stories now to encourage the risk takers.
Merry Christmas (Is it too early to say this?)

Well said that man! I once asked a simple S6 question quite some time back. Seemed hell broke loose and I got slated cus I wasn't in the right 'click'. After leaving me for dead they went off talking about marble kitchen tops and the like! Anyway it put me off making any comment/enquiry on here for some time. Now, can't help it cus I'VE BOUGHT A S6!!! in a T350 [have I mentioned that before?] After two griffs' gone into it with eyes open after much debate and reading the more informative threads on here.
Have a nice crimbo all.
