Yes and no...
They did get better with time, but many still needed rebuilds.
There's quite a few of the very last cars 2005/6 that haven't needed rebuilds. Your guess is as good as mine as to the likelihood of them going pop.
If you're looking to buy, just get one that's had a str8six or tvr power rebuild and you're good to go.

I concur. I own a 3.6li July 2003 which needed a rebuild after 10k miles and less than 2 yrs old. It was done at the TVR factory in 2005. It was also noteworthy that at the precise time mine was in getting diagnosed by Racing Green as needing a rebuild that another 3.6li came in, with the same problem, and apparently only 3 serial numbers away from my own. They did get better with time, but many still needed rebuilds.
