Tuscan Insurance - with limited no claims history

As a current ex-pat, due to be returning to the UK early next year, I have been checking out insurance prices as part of a lot of pre-Tuscan purchase investigative work. Although I had 5 yrs of no claims/clean driving in the UK before moving overseas, this appears now to have lapsed (did so after 2 yrs). The 5 yrs of clean history/no claims I then have from the US appears regrettably limited in its ability to reduce quotes much below 2k currently.

I am aware I am in a reasonably unusual position, but has anyone on the PH/Tuscan community had any experience of getting reasonable insurance given limited UK no claims history? I have already read all postings about Tuscan insurance in general so am aware of the wide options/quotes currently available to a UK resident with recent history.
