Main Beam vs Dip

Should main beam lock switch on both the main AND the dip beam?

Just had a blast along the A70 back to my folks in the dying light. Flicked on my full beams and was pleased with the result... but then noticed that after few seconds the illumination dropped off quite a bit.

I spent the next few minutes faffing about between locked full beam, dip and flashed full beam. Should have just been enjoying the drive really.

On inspection when I got back home it looks like when I push forward to lock the full beam sometimes the dip remains lit for a few seconds, but then drops out.

You should only be able to get main beam with the dipped beam on. Dipped should not go off with main beam.

I suspected as much. Into the pod I guess...
