Have had a Chimaera 450 for two years and am now looking at Tuscans. Anyone have any history on a Nightfire Red Tuscan for sale at Meridien Majestic down in Bournemouth. Any news welcome. thanks.

original engine apparantly so not great news, don't know yet what the rest of the history is other than as stated in the ad, or if it has upgraded shocks etc. My Chim is also Nightfire red with mag leather etc. Love the colour also, tis just the engine I would be nervous about. hopefully some kind PH'er will know more.

If it was for myself, the only way I would buy a speed six car without a engine rebuild is if the car was cheap enough to factor in a new engine. Just my opinion.

Yeah I know, if it had a Power rebuild I would be setting the sat nav accordingly. still you never know someone may come back yet and say they forgot to tell the dealer it was a full rebuild not too long ago. lol, oh and it's got Nitrons etc etc. I will email the dealer back in the morning to see if the service history mentions anything interesting. Im sure anyone spending that amount would expect a rebuild.

Still keen to find out more about this Tuscan. Spoke to the dealer today and James was right it has been looked after by X-Works, recent service with new clutch etc. tried calling X-Works for a chat however, guess they must still be on Xmas break. Will see what I can find out in due course. In the meantime any other news still welcome.

Think this was the car for private sale on eBay a couple of months back, think it had a couple of issues, one was heater blower I think but cannot for the life of me remember much else.

Chap on here did go and see it and was a little disappointed. As said I could be wrong, but looks to be the same. I'll see if I can trace any info

Looks like a nice car! Looks lovely...and I would suggest go and have a look at it to see what its like in the flesh.

This isn't the one that was on eBay a while back (the interior was grey) which is a good thing!

Hi Mark, yes I think I remember the one for sale a few months back with the heater problem. Pretty sure its not the same car, this car was prev owned by someone in Lancs region whereas If I remember correctly the other one with the heater problem was Sussex ? have just looked back but couldn't find it.

just an update. Spoke to X Works and they confirm the engine is showing signs of valve guide wear and smoking a little on warm up. looks like a rebuild before too long then, shame coz a lovely looking car, damn.. would be worth considering at a lower cost though.

Whats with all the "it NEEDS a rebuild to touch it" nonsense. This spreads a myth that doesn't need to be spread.

There were problems with some batches. I have a 44k Tuscan and it is still going well as obviously the engine didn't have the bad batch of components. It doesnt *need* to be completely rebuilt FFS.

Some people don't drive the cars from Sep to May enough so there can be problem with resting / contact spots appearing on the Finger Followers etc I heard but I think actually using the car and respecting the no big revs till Oil over 50C is useful.

So annoying the constant doom mongering. I also am the only person on the internet without the Double VANOS failing on my E36 M3 too. rolleyes

Yes, it is great is someone has done some improvements but its not essential IMHO

Agree. I bought my 2000/X Tuscan with 8k miles on it... no rebuild and it stayed that way until the head gasket gave up on 48k-ish. By that time it was drinking oil rather excessively but still drove fine. I did however bite the bullet and went for a 4.5 driving
