Morning all. I've only had one key and the immobiliser fob since buying my car, and would like to get a spare.

I have always pushed the fob into the dash to mobilise the car before starting, but having read other posts should it work off the button instead of the inconvenience of pushing the insert in every time?

If so, can I also assume that if I get a spare key cut, I shouldn't need a spare immobiliser insert thing as well? Have not found any paperwork with the code on, however on opening the key fob, there is a 5 digit code embossed into the pcb, is this a part number or code?

Thanks

The Tuscans and other T cars used Jaguar / Ford key shafts and these can be obtained and recut locally. The key fob button is the normally way to switch off the immobiliser and the dalas key as a back up operation. I would seriously suggest you get a second blipper dalas key and new key shaft to have a complete second set.
the alarm code was on a read plastic credit card sized card the had about a sixteen digit number, if you have the card HF solutions can send you them thru' the post other wise you will need a reprogram, if the car is immobilesed and keys lost it is more difficult and costly. Give David a ring at HF.
Good luck

Thanks very much, my key has a flat shaft not the round Ford/Jag type, but that's neither here nor there.

I've been looking through the original hand book and I have 2 fold out business cards with information about how to operate the alarm, but no long numbers etc.

Is the alarm/immobiliser based upon a single module, which I can remove, send off and receive with a new set of keys etc? Typical I'm off on holiday for 2 weeks without the car but probably run out of time to get it apart before I go!

Hi

Abacus or HF systems
http://www.hf-solutions.co.uk/

Can help you, you'll need to take talk to them but you might have to take the immobiliser and alarm unit. They can then recode some new codes for you, there is a limit to the number of times you can do it though.

hope that helps,

N

Top bloke, he sorted out my Tamora alarm even though the code I had was wrong. And he now does replacement alarm fob keys for the Ford round style key.

Quality kit.
