The missis is now interested in a TuscanS !
But, she says she wants it in automatic...
So I'm talking to my engineers to find out the conversion costs of getting her converted to automatic and getting the heads of the engine re-built using their cam follower fix and valve issue fixes...
Looks like she'll be joining this forum very soon...
We're going round to a private Jaguar XK8 convertible for sale to check her out.... and on Monday stopping by at a dealer to check out a Tuscan S...

Lets see what she likes...

Place your bets, will she go for the Tuscan, or will she go for the Jag convertible...

Just looked at your profile, and would suggest other forum users do the same. Very impressive, and lovely Cerb, what a beast.
After what I witnessed, I would save the petrol. Dont bother with the Jag, your good lady will adore the Tusc, and if your Cerb project is anything to go by it will I am sure turn out to be a bit special. Let us know outcome, and good luck.

I personally hope she goes for the Jaguar before you start desecrating a real car.

An auto box doesn't seem to do the Merc SLR any harm.

AUTO TVR - tell her they don't do them (cos it is a stupid idea) an that is final. A nice people carrier maybe!

Is this based on how driveable the Cerb was? The Tusc is a much easier car to drive at lower speed 'cos of the power delivery. (Having said that, my ankle's currently bl**dy sore from 16 hours of driving the Tusc over the weekend)

Exactly her point too....

Well, we looked at two Tuscan S's... and 3 Jags, an XK8 convertible, and two XKR's.

She liked the jags, and loved the tuscans... but she didnt like the cold feeling she got when sitting in the tuscan, and said the jag was way more comfortable...

We're driving down this week to see a new corvette, and a T350....

Initially we were going to go all out on our runabout... but we've decided its best to invest in the new home project... so a big super can wait till after we have the new house... for now its whatever she chooses, and she is bloody picky!

I keep telling her technical things and this and that - and she keeps cutting in with words like "oh, but I dont like the carpet colour" ??????!!?!?!?!!

She even found the new bmw m5 attractive! but I've made it a point to never buy german... but you never know.... those new M5's pack a lot of punch and in comfortable 'wuss' style tooo

It is indeed, I had the fortune to gaze in awe at it when it turned up at the GTOUK AGM last March.

SXS - how's the 3000GT running?

Can't help but think an auto Tuscan would be dangerous.

Got to say don't think its a good idea making a Tuscan into an auto box in fact I think it would be dangerous.
I drive a Tuscan as well as an E55 AMG with paddle shift and with auto down shift breaking and the breaking delay is to long. The auto box is by no means good enough.
Unless your spending heaps of cash on fly by wire paddle shift like in the F1 don’t do it. even then you will have to some how control the torque.
Good luck in whatever you decide

In fact the more I think about it.....

Revs get stuck a say 3,000 rpm (I think we've all had that!) what you gonna do in an auto? (Quickly enough to avoid a pickle!?)

Hey Mark!!! hows life?

GT's running sweet - gone through some sweet mods... but she's now becoming a project car rather than the daily runner... plus the 'mods' now make sure she drinks around 8mpg - constantly!!!

cheers bud!

engineers advised against it too (unless they changed the cam spec and fiddle with the power curve, but then that defeats the objective of Tuscan performance) - it would make an efficient drag car... but for the road, could be a wee bit on the 'wild' side for the missis.

Looks like its going to be a Jag XKR/XK8... although the XK8 feels a lot more 'road' friendly and softer, which could be just right for the lady.

We're testing a few other supers out this week and hopefully make decision and a purchase on saturday...

Firstly my brother would hate me for taking his dream away! and secondly they only come in manual

Heavy discussions with her, and she said "I prefer an automatic, but its ok whatever you say".... and we all know what that means when they finish a sentence off with "whatever you say"...
