Hi All,
I just had my Tuscan serviced last Friday and then today, Sunday left for our annual trip down to Spain.
With orders to check my oil and coolant levels at the end of the first day, I've this evening discovered that I can release the center latch.
The key rotates 90 degrees which I think is correct but I can get the latch to release.

As I rarely open the service bonnet, can someone please confirm taht the lock only rotates 90°.

With another 3,000 miles or so to do in the next 4 weeks, I need to get it free. Any advice welcome.

Thanks,
Tony.

OK, bit of a conundrum there then!

My 2p's worth then....Sounds like the lock (didn't realise anyone used this??) is either jammed or the cable (inner) to the service bonnet plunger has broken. You van of course check this by looking through the 'shut line' btwn main and service bonnets and seeing if the pin/plunger is withdrawing as you operate the latch handle.

If the pin/plunger is NOT moving then I believe your only alternative is to undo the hinge pin cap-screws (5mm allen key)at the front and under leading edge of the service bonnet. This will then allow a lift of the front edge and with careful lifting of the ball fixings at the rear, should allow you to release the service bonnet completely. You should then be able to lift main bonnet and investigate latch mechanism - as well as checking levels!

Thanks for the replies smile

I couldnt get the latch pull thingy to pop up so not even reached the point of the pin releasing.

Advised to spray with WD and give it a wiggle.
As my Wife has a better wiggle than me she had a go and BINGO. clap

No she will be taking the pcensoreds all the way to Spain. sperm

Thanks again.

Do you all actually lock your service bonnets? Seems like a recipe for disaster if you drop the key.

No, I never do but my Tuscan had been for a full respray and then ertaught for a service.
I hadn't sat behind the wheel since January so someone else had taken it upon themselves go lock it.
It will now stay unlocked and be opened regularly as before.

Mat Smith has one of his may little tricks to solve this and stop happening again. He sorted mine and no problems since. Ask him to do his simple upgrade on the boot button as well smile
