Experience of selling.

Steve,
As a potential buyer in the next 3 months who has been nosying around the Tuscan/t350 ads for a while, I'd say that your latest advert is much, much better than the last one; the pictures do the colour justice (because the colour change isn't as obvious) and the price is competitive.
I'd personally leave it a little longer on Pistonheads - I've sold both my previous cars on here (and quickly).
The only difference between my sales and yours is the price range, I'd suspect a lot of people would want to buy from a dealer when looking at the 30-40k bracket, especially as it's a 2002 sp6 car and have the reassurance of a warranty. As such, 'Top Marques' or whatever wouldn't attract much more interest (I don't think).
Personally, I'd be more inclined to go for a '04 t350 for about the same money, but all you need is one punter who appreciates the paint job and wants the ultimate (S spec) Tuscan.

I will be leaving the car advertised on PH, although it has had limited interest. I want to try and avoid getting time wasters that just want to sit in it or drive it. If I did advertise in a magazine, would it be unreasonable to only accept responses from people that currently have a TVR and to ask them to arrive in it? The thing is that I have to sell reasonably soon to make way for an Aston that ive been waiting for for over 2 yrs. I will have to correct you though, its a 2003 model and as such still has until Sept with full factory warranty.

Oops - wrong car then (I mistook it for the 2002 Tuscan S in the classifieds). However, it did give you an opportunity to get the sales patter on the thread, so that can only be a good thing!
Regarding only considering responses from current TVR owners - I'm not sure that's the best option (it'd rule me out for starters!). It's probably wise to vet potential purchasers on the phone though. It's a difficult balance - you've got to appear friendly and easy to deal with yet you don't want a load of test pilots.
An advert which states no test drives without proof of insurance and funds should not put off any serious buyers.
edited to add: Found the advert now. Looks competitively priced (there's a dealer car for 3k more with the same spec). However, there are another 3/4 2002/03 S's which have been around for a while so the market does look slow at the moment and your colour combo is a love/hate one so that may restrict buyers (I love it BTW).

The price looks reasonable for the car so do not think that there is an issue there, and PH is a good a place as any to privately sell a Tuscan. I have heard of quite a few dealers these days who will try and sell your car for you "sale or return" type of thing. And people like James Agger do a broker type service now.
However I think that the lack of interest, and this is only my personal opinion, is because of the colour. Nebula Black is quite a "funky" paint and may only attract a very small percentage of potential buyers.

Its a bit of a bugger. Personally I think the colour is great, never seen anything else like it, but then again thats why i bought it. I suppose i'm in a bit of an awkward position and i know i'm gonna end up selling for less than its worth. May as well take advantage of this thread and state that if there is anyone interested I will consider any sensible offer. I have too! Brilliant car, no probs, all details with Castle TVR. I wonder if the MK2's will become more desirable as used cars. Silly front lights though, and ive seen some bloody large pools of water collecting on top of the boot! Bad design flaw. Someone should be fired for that!

Didn't their chief designer leave last week (it's on another thread somewhere).
How about seeing what sort of agreement you can establish with a dealer. There are cars advertised @
38k at the moment at dealers. If they take a 4k margin it's still not far off your advertised price, give or take a bit of negotiation?

Thing is I can not just let a dealer have the car to sell on my behalf as I drive it everyday, and I'm going to need the funds for my new purchase. Not too sure if there are many dealers that actually would buy a car outright.
Steve
Oh, they would (but it'll cost you - a lot!!
). It's a difficult one, apart from trying the mags and decreasing the price as the deadline approaches I'm not sure what to suggest...
