I've searched the forum for an answer on this one, but there's nothing definitive.

Has anyone managed to squeeze a pair of 5.25" (13cm) speakers into the standard side panel location next to the seatbelts? I'm planning to put a pair of 6x9" Genesis subs in the rear panel, so need somewhere to put sensibly sized mid range speakers.

I'd stick with 4" mids in the standard location, but no-one seems to make 2 way components in that size...

Cheers,
Pete

Thanks! I presume you just cut the speaker grill away to match the curvature of the wheel arch?

don't do it!

imho.

speakers there sound terrible.. one fires right into your ear for a start. I was gonna stick a set of 5 1/4 mids there myself. But in the end mounted them in rear for that reason... really.. it's the worse place in the world to stick a set of speakers..imho.

best place is to get a set in doors or in front sill, and a set in the rear like you're going to do.

have a look at my install:

Yes, in the door is the best place, of course. But where?Possibly in a xtra fibreglass-box???

And probably with a lot of tape

Well, you can get to a car hifi specialist, and they built a stealth box for your tuscan with alcantara, but that does not become cheap.

In the front sill?
But look a that, please!
Seems something, which there does not belong.

If the setup and installation was correctly accomplished, it is a really beautiful compromise. The FOCALV2 is a very good loudspeaker.
And you have place for a pair of great subs (u.a.for the sound turbulences) behind you.
Condition is a top amp like "Steg" or similarly

Speakers in the doors........it can be done!

JL Audio 3 way component speakers

The 6.5" bass drivers are in the rear bulkhead.

I also have a set of 5.25" components that were intended to go into the standard location, but I decided not to put them in. Maybe they'll go in some custom door pods if I ever get the time (i.e. can be ar5ed!)
