White tuscan on eBay
Discussion
I'm on the look out for a tuscan and was wondering if anyone recognised this tuscan.
The owner says that it's been in a barn for 10 years.

Do I keep away or has it got potential if it's a low price £8-10k?

Hi Steven,
I don,t have one myself but am looking at whats on offer with the view of buying possibly in the summer. Have done a bit of research and the seller says it smokes a bit. If engine has not been rebuilt then would suggest it needs it. Low mileage sounds good but not with a Tuscan, opinion I have read suggests its better to have a regularly used one rather than a low mileage unused one. Interior looks shabby and probably could do with a refit, plus carpets of course. What is the chassis like ? Was it properly sorted after the crash ? Has the powder coating flaked ?
Its cheap now but with some TLC and spend the same amount as its being sold for ( by a TVR specialist ) then would probably be worth in the low twenties.
Just my thoughts.
Good luck and let us know what you decide.

Also, there is this web site that is worth a look :- http://www.mytuscan.co.uk
I reckon £10k is a conservative budget for engine rebuild and other issues that will no doubt crop up after being laid up for so long.
So at £10k to purchase you will be into the car for £20k if not more. Sounds expensive for a cat d when there are many well maintained cars without history issues for similar money.

Is it an s or standard tuscan? How can you tell?
Is there anyway to find previous damage repair if current owner doesn't know.
The indicators on a MK1 S are in the body below the rear lights, a standard MK1 have the LED indicators inside the rear roll hoop, so it looks like an S, but with a standard boot lid i.e no spoiler and no front splitter. Is there anyway to find previous damage repair if current owner doesn't know.
Yes I'm sure I've seen it in the past for sale.
A part of me would really like a project and to bring a tuscan back to its glory, obviously the concerns are there's something seriously wrong. Or I put money into an engine rebuilt etc and find it's resell value is nowhere near the money put in.

This... You won't recover the money of the car and a rebuild, plus other bits that are bound to be required on a damage repaired car. I've done a rebuild and a bit of a refurb myself and the costs soon escalate.

It's been advertised before and went to over £13K and didn't sell. When advertised before it was described as previously been blue, resprayed an audi colour, he has two targa tops for it too, my memory fails me slightly but they are 2 different colours and one had a broken catch.
If those were genuine bids you'd take 13k in a flash for a smoking Tuscan ...Gassing Station | Tuscan | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
