I've recently noticed a bit of oily residue leaking down from the water cap and covering the top of the oil tank. I took the water cap off yesterday to investigate, and saw that the inlet tube was filled with what looked like dijon mustard (although probably not as tasty with my steak ).

The car is back at the dealer now, and they're investigating... The factory think it's a broken oil cooler, but my guess is head gasket...

Any thoughts?

Ed, had this on my Red Rose Tunscan. Then it went pop not too long after. Mine what a white slime type resedue, oil leading in the water somewhere.

Hopefully its nothing too serious, after all the new Speed 6 have the oil cooled via a water tank, (if that makes sense) so it might me here that TVR are talking about...

From my 944 experience (oil cooler in water jacket) water in oil tends to be head gasket, oil in water was leaking oil cooler seals.

Any news from the dealer yet as to what the problem is/was?

Hardened o-rings in the oil cooler are currently the chief suspect, and a new set are being fitted today. Hopefully this will cure the problem, and I should get the car back at the weekend

Apparently, a knackered head gasket or broken oil cooler would most likely result in water in the oil rather than oil in the water, so fingers crossed!

I picked the car back from Castle this afternoon with it's new o-rings fitted, and even though it's only been gone a few days, it feels great to be back in it
