DIY In-Car Audio
Discussion
I already have a Pioneer DAB tuner fitted inside the boot and I want to chain the new Pioneer iPod adaptor to it (when it becomes available in April). I'm guessing this can't be too difficult but I suspect there's some wiring protocol to follow.
Connecting the DAB tuner and the iPod adaptor together is simple (using an IP-Bus cable) because I plan to site the two devices next to each other. However, I'm not sure whether I can take a spur off the tuner's power supply in order to power the iPod adaptor. If I can do this, what's the preferred method for connecting to the existing power cable (which Pioneer does not recommend, BTW, but I think they're just being overly cautious)?
I would much rather take a spur than run a new power cable all the way to the fuse board.
Any help very gratefully received, thanks.

I fitted a CD changer next to my DAB tuner and took a spur - it works just fine. There are inline fuses for both, so something would have blown if it wasn't. These are all low power devices anyway, so I wasn't concerned about any possibility of over loading the wires.
Though not recommended, I used scot blocs (I think that's the name) to hook up the power. If I wanted a better connection I'd trim the insulation and solder onto the cable, but this hasn't been necessary.

Maplin call them "snap-lock" connectors
