I've seen plenty of threads regarding problems getting a Tuscan started up. However, mine occasionally behaves in a way that I haven't seen described elsewhere.

Recently fuse 17 (ignition coils) let me down but before I knew that was the problem I repeatedly tried to start the car. Anyway, by the time I sorted the fuse the engine was truly flooded. 24 hours later, and after some experimentation with the fuel pump relay, I got it started again and went for a long blast. Everything seemed normal.

Since then, though, if I wash the car or leave it for a few days, it becomes difficult to start. In order to get it going I have to pump the accelerator repeatedly before it catches (whereas normally it will catch pretty much straight away, then I provide assistance with a touch of gas for a few seconds). Pumping the gas like this can result in uncomfortably high revs at the instant it catches... Get lots of exhaust smoke, too (although presumably this is just moisture "burning" off).

Does anyone have any idea what might be the cause or should I just stop yakking and drive?
