Calling all MK 2 owners !!!!!
Discussion
to all owners of the MK2 (except Koen). Hi all.
Obviously there is a design fault with the pod which myself and a couple of others have mentioned.(now you know why I left you out Koen, oh you with foresight and a MK1 pod ).
If you do have a prob, and honestly I cant see how you wont, then if you would care to email me through my profile, as soon as I have got a few together then I am happy to put together a collective complaint to Blackpool.
I feel that together we may stand more chance of getting something done than individually.
Apart from being unreadable, there is also the possibility it may be illegal. Surely if a vehicle is equipped with a speedo, not only should it be accurate, but you must be able to see it !!!

Sounds like you might want to add the new roof and the indicators to that list too.
They are just part of the joys of Tuscan ownership and easily rectified (I hope, indicators now sorted and I do appear to be in a minority with that particular prob).
The pod though, is another matter. I dont like driving blind. Dont get me wrong, I adore the car and this hasn't put me off at all, but if no-one raises certain issues then things wont get changed. I realise as an early buyer I am somewhat of a guinea pig. I am just trying to push for a useable modification, or else a summer of very dull weather when the pod is great.

and what do they change to see the speedo better lady topaz?
If I was a designer, which I dont profess to be,I might be able to answer that, but having not heard of the same problem with other new models, maybe they need to re-think the read-out along those lines. My other half has a Boxster S with digital read out, and there are no probs with viewing the display so I am sure that something not too drastic can be done without losing the aesthetics of the pod.
I really dont know, but judging by the emails I have already received, I am not alone.

I can't see them doing anything unless enough people make a noise. As I have said previously, the speedo is possibly the least of my concerns. Its the lack of rev, water temp, oil temp/pressure information which worries me. Imagine being stuck in traffic in hot weather and having no idea that you may be overheating before it is too late. Don't mean to be alarmist, but it bothers me.

Polarised Glass/Plastic?
and if your Butler drives a Porsche your paying him too much!
Hi Al
Maybe stronger rear illumination,( the pod, not me ) might be an answer, or as you say greater polarisation.
The Butler has ideas above his station, but after all it is only a Boxster !!!
Just can't get good staff these days.
PS tried to Email you earlier but no joy. I have sorted what I wanted to tell you, but has your email address changed? Or maybe you are just avoiding me!!
Di
xx
PS my smileys gone now, not having a good day, bl**dy puters.
Oh dear, what a lucky bastard I am.
But you're right lady Di, the most important matter is indeed all the info except the speedo.
I also think TVR is very sensitive for these kind of critics and they will sort it out if all MK 2 owners respond. It took me long discussions before I finally got the best looking/working pod but then again I ordered my Tuscan before the new model was presented.
Remember this, when I am driving with my roof off in gorgeous bright weather - during the Tuscan weekend – going by overheated/low fuel MK2’s, I surely will help you out of troubles. (The butlers bus/van/lorry S can be stuffed with oil/fuel and water and please no German-dash solutions in a Tuscan) sorry
So if you need help then do count me in.
Good luck.

Copy From posting Yesterday on to your "A year in the life of Tucan 2 Owners" thread.
"Hi Di and all, am following your thread religiously, it is very informative keep it up!
I agree with the pod issue, mine is just the same, I took my top off
and rear window out and could not see a thing. I have fitted my old B2 origin (safety camera gadget) to mine and it has a big speedo option that fills the screen, see pic attached, unfortunately I did not take a pic with it showin big numbers but it does work well!
But I don`t see why I should have to spend £500 on a gadget that allows me to see my speed cos my £45K Car can`t!
But I also agree with previous contributor (sorry can`t remember who it was) that we should have Oil and Water Temp on display as well as Revs and Speedo, they are vital (even if you can`t see them!) See Pic

With regard to your rear window, just use a pair of pliars to tighten the clips the first time and then fingers will do from then on. I also found the window did not slip in to the top very easily, as the gap is much smaller than the old Tuscan (perhaps that will make it more watertight!) but it does go in, I also found that I have to fit my window just right of centre otherwise the boot lid; when opening tries to rip the window off as it catches on the boot lid hinge.
Hey suns out again, what a great weekend for hooning.
Anyone off to le-mans this year? I need to meet up with some of you from Lincolnshire to arrange or join a convoy! come on mail me.

I'm with you on this one Di. I love the new car but the display just isn't fit for the purpose for which it was intended.
TVR's own press information from the Birmingham Motor Show 2004 states "As Britain's roads become more and more plagued by cameras, extremely accurate speed readings have become of paramount importance and a digital readout is the only way of delivering this".
I concur with the comment, and having had the car only a short time, I have grown to appreciate the simplicity of the display. However inaccurate, illegible or erratic information does not accord with the above statement or help the driver.

Sorry to borrow the thread for a bit (promise I'll return it unharmed)... but I was wondering if you lot have standard "Tuscan" badges on the back or "Mk II", or what? I've got an old, spare Tuscan badge off the rear of mine I was about to stick on EBay, but just spotted this thread that's likely to have all the Mk 2 owners in attendance, so it got me wondering if anyone off here would want first dibs on it??
Thread duly returned - hope all your pods get sorted.
