Sorry to ask this all (and I have read ALL the postings to date on this), but would appreciate some advice to a newbie;

EFI Fault came on this morning at start up and initially showed Oil Pressure 99 PSI. Once car idled for around 10-15 secs, PSI seemed to dip to more reasonable levels given the cold temps, but then shot up to 99 psi and engine then died completely (amidst much stomach churning). This happened once more on re-starting the engine, before seeming to level out at much more reasonable (and lower PSI's). EFI Fault then arose a couple more times on the journey - but again only when 99PSI appeared on Pod - before settling down to better behaviour.

Weather has been very wet here for 2/3 days (rain) so am aware this may affect sensors, but any further advice appreciated. Am a little worried, esp if it is a fuel/cat issue

I would put a call in to your friendly local dealer if I were you. Not worth taking a chance.

Methinks a visit is indeed in order...if only to check out the oil pressure sensor which once again read 99 PSI and then dropped back and forth to 30/40 PSI every few mins. Any one else had this problem?

Most likely a duff oil pressure sensor, at one time I had a dodgy sensor which sometimes triggered an EFI fault to be displayed. Best to get it checked though.
