Adjusting idle speed

I have a speed six cerb, when hot it idles at about 400rpm, is there an adjustment screw to turn the revs up a bit or is it a dealer job, my next service is not due for a couple of thousand miles.

Yes you can adjust the idle IIRC, however it could well be that your tappets need adjusting? When was the last time they were adjusted? It has been know for them to be "out" after a few thousand miles

The tappets were done at 4000 miles ago at last service (engine rebuild) they are due to be checked at next service (24,000 miles). Do you know where to adjust the idle speed?

in between no 3 and 4 throttle bodies from the air box side there is a small allen screw with a lock nut. Screwing it in raises the idle.

Idle dropping that much so soon could be indicative of something more though.

When you had the rebuild did you get the throttle
bodies done at the same time? I had new ones fitted
at my rebuild and after about 2 thousand miles they
start to bed in and tickover is reduced as a result.
Be carful when adjusting the centre screw as this does
not always adjust all six by the same amount as it should and can lead to a slight judder at constant
speed if they are not all aligned correctly.

I got my car back from the 1k service on Friday. Now the tick-over, when hot, cycles between slowing to almost stall then picking-up to about 650, with the result that I am stalling the engine fairly often. When blipping the throttle on change-down, I can find the engine has died, and am effectively bump starting the engine again in the next gear.

Ho-hum - back to the dealer.
