So having finally sorted the misfire and looking forward to enjoying the car over the summer the steering rack developed a major leak and I ended up parking it up on the drive for the last five weeks.
Finally got round to stripping it down this week to get the rack out...not as bad a job as I had imagined...but I was somewhat dismayed when I saw the state oil pipes. They really are terribly rusty around the unions. I assumed they cant have been replaced since the car was new but upon checking the old receipts I noticed that they were all replaced back in 2013 when it had the engine rebuilt. It’s only done about 10k miles since then so I was wondering if anybody else has had their pipe work start to corrode in such a short space of time.

Further more I found a nice snapped front coil spring so new springs all round and gaz gold pro (never knew it had them on, wasn’t told so when I bought it) will be getting sent away for a service.
I will be needing some new track rod ends too and note that they are off an SD1 so I ratched some out of the spares box as I have an SD1 too and notice that the SD1 replacements I have are shorter than the ones I removed...any pointers?
