Got a question...

I was with my car out on the drive and was showing this young kid who admires tvr's my car, and rev'd it up about 3 times Pop's and Crackles, it was pretty loud..
and the neighbor next to me... the guys wife (god i hate her) started shouting my name and said "can you not do that anymore or rev the engine because its to bloody loud and horrible" and some other stuff..
then her husband backed her up and said "those exhausts are illegal" ...
Well all is nice & merry now, i said i wont do it anymore as i want to get on with my next door neighbor and he is a pretty decent guy its just his wife...

Is there anything they could do about my exhausts? like complain to the bib and get them removed? as the sound levels are to high or something?

i was thinking of getting it de-cat aswell

Regards,

Haydn.

Not unless you start revving it at 3am.

I'm sure bikes make as much noise so tough.

As far as I know there is no legal limit to the sound made by car exhausts, bikes on the other hand have more stringent rules on exhausts.

Sounds like your neighbours could do with the "flaming bag" trick:-

Step One. Find a fresh dog poo.

Step Two. Insert dog poo into a paper bag.

Step 3. Put bag with contained poo on neighbours doorstep.

Step 4. Light bag with a suitable naked flame source.

Step 5. Once the bag has caught ring the doorbell and run and hide.

Step 6. Laugh uncontrollaby as your neighbour stamps out the fire on his doorstep.

Yes yes yes De-cat it as well. Then have a few trips out at various times in the evening, such as 2am, 3am, 4am etc.

Sounds like her gob is offensive. We must just ignore this small minded people and enjoy our cars.

actually that's all changed apparently.

Just spend an hour fitting the 'mot exhaust' on the bike. went down for MOT at weekend and bloke says..

"oh, you didn't need to put that on now.. rules have changed: no checks on exhuast type now in MOT).

Dunno, suppose that means my 2brothersRacing pipe is still not road legal, but at least not covered by MOT anymore.

Do the de-cat thing - you know it makes sense!!

Know where you're coming from - when I'm on earlies I have this conscience-type-guilt that makes me push the car from the garage before starting it at 5am to avoid too much neighbour-annoyance.

Didn't help the other morning when I pulled it straight over my foot I made more noise than the car did.......

I've got CCC's - but it's not been de-catted (yet) - what sort of noise does the de-cat make? Are we talking rumbles approaching a V8? Is it something you can 'realistically' live with?

The CCC's are loud enough & pop & bang virtually constantly (my Chimaera only did that on overrun with some persuasion) - good thing with the ccc's is they're not too noisy whilst letting the car warm a bit at idle early in the morning...

Well i have been back at around 2 - 4am quite alot, i try to keep it as quiet as possible! its so loud especially at night when everything else is quiet, can be quite hard to reverse it into the drive quietly at times too, im sure they turn in there beds thinking about me...

Good to know that they can't actually make me remove them though

When it has been de-catted will it sound any louder at idle?

Quality! Haven't done that for over twenty years!!!!

Mine's had the rear pipes sleeved and I reverse onto the sloped drive up to the front of the house

Neighbours regularly swear, but in a light hearted way!

Gra' (hope I got that right?)

I'm in Stanford-Le-Hope.
I've got James' ex-car ('S' with CCC's and de-cat), so if you fancy a listen......

By the way - anyone know what's happened to James?
(J_S_G - Check his profile.....seems a bit odd!)

Not so!

Mine was de-moggied by the previous nutcase and I've got the MOT and emission printouts to prove it flew through...

In fact.....
